A time of hope and renewal

8 January 2026

From 30 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, Priscilla Latela, Superior General, and Amilbia Penagos, General Prefect of Formation, continue their canonical visit to Europe, Spain, in the community of Julían Hernandez, Madrid.

In the context of Christmas and the beginning of the year 2026, the fraternal sharing of the visit was a special welcome to the new year, with the hope that for the Claretian Missionary Sisters and those of us who walk together, it will be an opportunity to live and welcome the newness that God offers us and to contribute with Him to being bearers of peace, promoters of forgiveness and reconciliation; men and women committed to transformation through love.

The community, open to welcoming pastoral groups from the Province, has a significant apostolic outreach: in CONFER, coordinating the regional and diocesan CONFER groups; in the parish of Saint John the Baptist; in Caritas; in the pastoral care of the sick; at the Mater Inmaculada school, through religion classes and volunteer work; on the Province’s PYV team; by giving online Spanish classes to sisters of the Congregation who need to learn the language; and by collaborating in the transcription of congregational documents.

Contemplating the icon of Jesus the Teacher who cares for his missionaries and sharing our evaluations within the framework of the congregation’s mission, vision and values has allowed us to renew our commitment to start afresh, transforming grievances into forgiveness, pain into consolation and resolutions of virtue into good works, living each moment in reconciliation and promoting reconciliation.

On 1 January, we had the opportunity to meet here in the community of Julián Hernández with the sisters from the three communities present in Madrid. We greeted each other, welcoming each other to the new year. Then, in the chapel, we prayed together for peace in ourselves, in the Congregation, in the Church and in the world. The meeting continued with warm and fraternal sharing, and a good space was created for Christmas carols. How fraternal and pleasant the family gathering was!

We give thanks to the Lord of history and life for this fraternal sharing full of details. We ask that He continue to strengthen the flame of love and vocation in our hearts so that it may continue to shine from on high.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
