CORPUS CHRISTI
22 June 2025Corpus Christi is not simply that we adore Jesus in the Eucharist and that we acknowledge his presence among us through shared bread and wine. It is a memorial of his passion, of his fidelity, of his coherence to the mission entrusted to him. It is the total and generous dedication for all. It is the dinner of the new family that arises from discipleship. And it is a dinner where there is not a lamb for dinner but a life to give. Contemplating Jesus in the Eucharist leads us to live the Easter of service, generosity, mercy, and fraternity lived and shared.
A priest, in his homily, told the faithful the parable of a mirror “You may look at yourself in a broken mirror, but your face does not break. If you take one of the fragments and use it to reflect yourself, as long as the piece is still usable, you can still see your face fully. The same is true for the Body of Christ that you receive. The host that is broken does not break the essence of the Body and Blood of Christ! Whether you receive a large host, a small one, or even just a tiny fragment, the value remains the same: we receive the Body of Christ”.
Your grace is not diminished simply because you receive a small fragment of the host, and the priest’s grace is not greater just because he consumes a larger host of the Body of Christ. If we consistently celebrate the Eucharist, we will receive its grace multiplied. Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fish likewise, He multiplies the grace from the Eucharist you celebrate.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy Wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,
And bid me to come to Thee.
That with Thy saints, I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever.
Amen.
