Inauguration of the New Formation House in Antsirabe
16 February 2026On February 14, the Claretian Missionary Sisters officially inaugurated their new Formation House in Antsirabe, Madagascar, a moment of great joy for the Congregation and for the local Church. The celebration brought together sisters, priests, friends and members of the local ecclesial community, who wished to accompany this significant step in the Claretian mission in the country.
The house is intended for the initial formation of young women discerning religious life within the Claretian charism. It will be a space for prayer, study, community life and missionary preparation, designed to accompany the young women integrally in their human, spiritual, and pastoral growth.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Jean Pascal Andriantsoavina, bishop of the Diocese of Antsirabe, who invited those present to learn from the compassion of Jesus. In his homily, he recalled that true compassion means opening our eyes to the suffering and hopes of others, walking with people, and sharing with them love, healing and hope.
Addressing the young women in formation in particular, he emphasized that formation is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about allowing one’s heart to be shaped by compassion and a readiness to serve.
The opening of this Formation House is a sign of hope and renewal for the Church in Madagascar. From this new home, entrusted to God’s providence, future missionaries will be prepared to accompany communities with faith, closeness and love.
With gratitude and joy, the new house begins its journey: a place where women will be formed who are capable of bringing God’s compassion to the world.
