Preparing for the Coming of the King
29 November 2025On the first Sundays, the readings align with the theme of Christ the King Sunday, looking forward with hope to the coming of the King, the Savior of humanity. The prophet Isaiah describes the peace that will come when the Lord visits His people, and when His light shines, “let us conduct ourselves properly” (cf. Rom 13:11-14).
Advent is a time not only to look back and acknowledge our oldest and darkest paths, accepting our fragility, but also to seek His embrace through prayer, Bible readings, sharing faith in the Spirit, and personal transformation. Our Constitutions offer profound guidance on the combination of action and contemplation; when we pray, we pray with Christ praying (Const. 49), which means we are called to unite ourselves with Him in every action, in every event, in every encounter, and in every decision (Booklet 2, Constitutions: Life of Prayer).
May this Advent season find us lighting our candles in contemplative silence as a reminder that only the light of Christ the King shines into the deepest corners of our lives. Let us allow ourselves to be filled with the Word of God so that we may become true artisans of peace and hope.
