Promoting the Integral Development of Women
14 July 2025The canonical and specific apostolic mission visit continued from July 10 to 13 in the Diocese of Giffna, where the Claretian Missionary Sisters carry out their mission at MU/Mallavi Central College Girls’ Hostel. They accompany adolescent girls and young women from various religions and social backgrounds in their integral growth, moral, social, physical, spiritual, and psychological, by helping them learn the English language and encouraging good behavior based on human values.
In addition, the sisters collaborate in parish activities, including liturgical animation, family visits, service at the parish listening center, English classes through the Montessori method, and Christian education classes at the government-run Central College.
It is a challenging mission and, at the same time, very much in tune with the founding inspiration of caring for the formation of women to ensure societal transformation. It also aligns with the UN objective of promoting women’s education in Africa and Asia to bring about social change, as well as the Church’s call to implement the Global Compact on Education for universal fraternity.
