The heart burns when one arrives at the House of Mother Paris

2 January 2026

The canonical visitation in Catalonia concluded in the community of Reus, from December 26 to 29, 2025. Priscilla Latela, Superior General, and Amilbia Penagos, Prefect of Formation, arrived at the María Inmaculada Spirituality House in Reus, a theological place for the Claretian Missionary Sisters and for all those who feel themselves heirs of the same charism to carry out the canonical visitation of the community.

Within the framework of the Octave of Christmas, contemplation of the icon of Jesus the Teacher, who cares for His missionaries, continued, along with an evaluation of community life based on the mission, vision, and values of religious sisters and lay people who today are heirs of the Claretian charism. We too participated in the closing of the Jubilee Year at the Cathedral of Tarragona. The Eucharist was presided over by Archbishop Joan Planellas, Archbishop of Tarragona. United with the ecclesial community and with the Congregation, we lived this moment expressing gratitude for being encouraged and strengthened to live with an attitude of hope. At the end of the Eucharist, we offered a brief but heartfelt greeting to the Archbishop, who expressed his gratitude for our missionary presence in the diocese.

Throughout the visitation, we also had the opportunity to welcome into our home our brothers, the Claretian Missionaries residing in Valls, as well as the parish priest of Saint John the Baptist Parish. With them, we fraternally shared reflections on the pastoral reality, with its lights and challenges, in this part of the Tarragona region.

We give thanks to God for these days of visitation, fraternal sharing, and for strengthening the gift of the Claretian vocation in service to the Church and the world.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
