11th World Day of Prayer and Reflection Against Human Trafficking – “Ambassadors of Hope”
7 February 2025On February 8, the Church celebrates the 11th World Day of Prayer and Reflection Against Human Trafficking, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese religious who, as a child, was sold into slavery and became a victim of trafficking.
In the context of this Jubilee year, the theme chosen is: “Ambassadors of Hope: Together Against Human Trafficking”.
This day is an opportunity to pray and reflect collectively on the issues of human trafficking and modern-day slavery, supporting the victims, survivors, and vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, migrants, and refugees.
We are invited to “open our eyes and ears to see those who go unseen and to hear those who have no voice, to acknowledge the dignity of each person and to fight trafficking and all forms of exploitation”. Let us help each other react and open our lives and hearts to the many sisters and brothers who are treated as slaves: “It is never too late to take action”.
On this day (… and every day) we invite you to: LISTEN, DREAM, AND ACT.
“Let us once more dream of a world where all people can live with freedom and dignity”.
