A new Order in Practice

The Founder, Archbishop Antonio María Claret y Clará, decided not to delay any longer the formal founding of the Institute. Accordingly, on August 25, 1855, he signed what may be called the birth certificate of the INSTITUTE OF THE APOSTOLIC MISSIONARIES OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF MARY MOST HOLY. It reads as follows:

“Monsignor Don Antonio María Claret y Clará, by the grace of God and of the Holy Apostolic See, Archbishop of Cuba, Primate of the Indies, Prelate, Grand Cross of the Royal American Order of Isabella the Catholic, Member of His Majesty’s Council.”
