Celebrating Life and Entering into the History of the 19th Century

In the transition between the days dedicated to personal knowledge and entering the history of the 19th century, we had the joy of celebrating the gift of life of Priscilla Latela, our Superior General. From the morning, with Lauds and the Eucharistic celebration, we gave thanks to the Lord for her missionary life, passionate about the Gospel and the Congregation. It was a day lived with a congregational spirit, marked by gratitude, joy, and simplicity.

In the following days, the group turned its attention to the historical context of the 19th century, under the guidance of Priscilla Latela and Amilbia Penagos. Through presentations in different languages, the participants deepened their understanding of the life and mission of María Antonia París and Antonio María Claret, which enabled them to better understand the social, political, and ecclesial context that shaped their personal history and vocation, as well as the way in which they responded to God’s call. In the same way, the participants were able to discover the roots and emergence of the charism granted by the Spirit to our Founders to contribute to the beauty of the Church.

Additionally, the Sisters carried out a meaningful reflection exercise on their own historical context, considering the social, political, and ecclesial environments of their birth, childhood, and adolescence. They expressed these experiences creatively through paintings and drawings, which they later shared in small groups.

Overall, the first week was marked by a rich exchange of learning, reflections, shared experiences, and a celebration of gratitude for the gift of life given to Priscilla. All of this contributed to continuing the journey of deepening self-knowledge and strengthening the sense of community among the participants.
