Demonstrations and violence in Nigeria

23 October 2020

For the past 2 weeks Nigeria has been experiencing protests which gathered thousands of young people. It started with cases of unlawful killings done by SARS – anti robbery security forces and later turned into general protest of the young against the situation in which they live – unemployment irrespectively of their education,  lack of security and good educational system. On Tuesday police opened fire towards peaceful protesters in Lagos and Amnesty International confirmed at least 12 killed. In following days protests in the whole country are continuing, both peaceful and violent – burning police stations,  cars and other property.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
