God Writing Our Story

Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to travel throughout the diocese of Antsirabe, Madagascar, meet many new people, and build relationships within the local Church as we gradually take root in this new mission. Through these experiences, I have developed a deep appreciation for the faith and simplicity of the people.

In the town of Betafo, 657 children were preparing to receive the First Holy Communion. Many of them came from villages located far from the town. Before the celebration of the sacrament, a two-day retreat was organized. The children had to arrive each morning and return home in the evening. Some families walked more than three hours each way to attend. Many parents accompanied their children, and this became an opportunity for them to receive faith formation as well. It was inspiring to witness their dedication and deep commitment to their children’s sacramental life.

I was also given the opportunity to become a member of the diocesan leadership team of the FET (Eucharistic Cross Movement). This has enabled me to participate more actively in the life of the diocese, accompany young people, and visit different parishes. Although I am still learning, the warm welcome and encouragement I receive from the people continue to inspire me.

One of my most memorable experiences was visiting the family of one of our aspirants. Reaching their village required walking for several hours, crossing muddy mountain paths and rivers. Their home is far from the noise and activity of the town. I was amazed to find a large church in such a remote place and a community that was well formed in the faith. I also had the privilege of being the first foreigner ever to visit their village, an experience that filled me with gratitude and humility.

Through these encounters and unexpected experiences, I continue to see God gently writing the story of our mission. His providence is revealed in ways I could never have imagined, strengthening my faith and reminding me that He faithfully guides every step of our journey.
