Grateful Remembrance of the Easter of María Antonia París in the Context of the Canonical Visit

19 January 2026

On January 17, the Claretian Family gathered in Madrid, at the school “Mater Immaculata”, to celebrate the remembrance of the Easter of María Antonia París y Riera, founder along with Saint Anthony Mary Claret of the Claretian Missionaries, on the 141st anniversary of her death. The celebration took place within the framework of the canonical visit of the Superior General and the General Prefect of Formation, which added a special meaning of fraternity, gratitude, and renewal of charism-based bonds.

María Antonia, a woman of profound faith and spirituality, continues to be a true gift for the Church and for the entire Claretian family. Her life was deeply marked by the Word of God, to which she herself confessed having given all her love: “The Gospel is the only magnet of my love.”

As we approach the Sunday of the Word, the figure of María Antonia helped us rediscover her passionate relationship with the Gospel, lived not as a text to be read or studied, but as a Word to be welcomed, embodied, and life-transforming. For her, the Gospel was not merely a book, but an inner experience so deep that it remained “imprinted on the soul,” learned in the light of Christ Crucified, a living school of self-giving love.

The celebration concluded with a fraternal agape and rich sharing.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
