María Teresita Albarracín, Messenger of Easter joy: Jubilee Year 2026–2027

Today, May 1, 2026, we joyfully celebrate the opening of the Jubilee Year marking the centenary of the birth of the Venerable Servant of God María Teresita Albarracín, which will conclude on May 1, 2027.

The motto accompanying this journey, “Mª Teresita Albarracín, messenger of Easter joy”, expresses the heart of her life: a joy born from an encounter with Christ that endures even in times of trial.

Born on May 1, 1927, in Puerto de Mazarrón (Spain), she grew up in a believing family and, from a young age, felt the desire to belong totally to God. Inspired by Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, she followed a path of trust and self-giving, discovering Christ in everyday life, in prayer, and in service.

Even in illness, she remained faithful, transforming suffering into an opportunity to love more deeply. Her way of life, marked by “always smiling,” continues today as a simple yet powerful witness.

In a world marked by uncertainty and suffering, her life still speaks strongly: it reminds us that holiness is possible, that true joy comes from God, and that love lived in simplicity has a transforming power.

This Jubilee Year will be a shared journey, supported by formative and spiritual materials, inviting us to learn more about her witness, to share it, especially with young people, and to strengthen our communion.

May the witness of Mª Teresita awaken in everyone the desire for a life given without measure and for a joy that springs from knowing we belong entirely to God. May Teresita accompany us with her joy!
