Pilgrimage on holy ground: Carcaixent

12 March 2025

On March 10th the group of the juniors visited the Community and the College María Inmaculada of Carcaixent. Claretian presence marks 150 years of history. Mother Antonia París herself, in 1859, returning from Cuba, gave life to the community with the marvellous educational apostolic work.

It has been exciting to define space, images, places read in the Congregational history and to be able to contemplate how the mission started 150 years ago today more than ever is still full of life and charismatic enthusiasm. Gratitude, joy, family spirit, walking together would be some of the words that could define the beautiful experience that we shared with the educational community, the management team, the students of different grades, the teachers, and the Claretian Sisters of our community.

We were touched by the witness of our sisters, the teamwork with whom we shared the charism that was evident in the vibrant life of the College. The meeting with the students was a special moment and we were surprised by their enthusiasm and eagerness to know more about our vocation and the purpose of being Claretians. It was inspiring to see how well they knew Maria Antonia Paris and St. Claret.

And the surprise of being able to celebrate the jubilee year of the College with a delicious and wonderful meal and birthday cake.

This pilgrimage was also marked by another important place in our Claretian life of faith: the place of the martyrdom of Mother Patrocinio Giner, and her tomb. A deeply moving experience. As we prayed, reflecting on her faith and her dedication, we asked for the grace to persevere in our vocation. Her witness of life inspired us to embrace our own journey with renewed strength. Together with those who share our charism.

On our return to Reus our hearts overflowed with joy in the Lord and with the desire to renew our commitment to our Claretian vocation.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
