The day of silence
16 April 2022Holy Saturday… is the day of silence, of descent… the Christian community keeps vigil, it is a day for deepening and contemplation.
Christ himself, the Word, the Word, is silent. He rests in the ‘new tomb’ after his last words: “all is accomplished”(Jn 19,30).
This silence is the fullness of the word that puts in tension the mystery of the Cross and the hope of the promise made to the apostles: ‘I will not leave you alone’ (Jn 14:18).
Mary, the Mother, hopes against all hope, because she believes in the Son, in his word. In the depths of her heart she keeps the words of life. This is the key to resist pain with dignity, to prepare for the new birth and the embrace of LIFE.
Let us open our hearts to the silence full of meaning and to the confident expectation of the Mystery that He who has returned to Life gives us.
