XXXVIII Course of the Studium of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints

13 January 2026

On January 9, Agnieszka and Helmy officially inaugurated the XXXVIII Course of the Studium of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. In his opening remarks, the Cardinal Prefect of the Dicastery, Marcello Semeraro, mentioned the life and figure of Cardinal John Henry Newman, recently proclaimed a Doctor of the Church, and invited participants to seek in our founders, in our sisters and brothers, a concrete virtue that can illuminate the Church today; to understand that it is not so much about encompassing the entire life of the “future saint”, but rather about a specific and meaningful witness for the ecclesial community.

For this formation, we gather at the Augustinian Patristic Institute (Augustinianum), around eighty people from different states of life, cultures, and languages. During these six months of formation, we will build a formative community, exchanging experiences, challenges, reflections, and fraternity.

We entrust this deepening of the causes of saints to the Venerable María Antonia París, Blessed M. Patrocinio, and Venerable Teresita Albarracín.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
