Apostolic Visit of Pope Leo XIV to Cameroon
4 May 2026From April 15 to 18, 2026, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV visited Cameroon, bringing a message of peace, unity, and hope to a nation marked by challenges.
Welcomed in Yaoundé by President Paul Biya, the Pope reminded all that war does not build society and called for a renewed commitment to peace as a foundation of both national and Christian life. In Bamenda, he urged reconciliation, inviting all to embrace unity in diversity and to lay down arms in favor of dialogue and fraternity.
For us, this visit was a moment of grace. The Claretian Sisters from the community of Bafoussam, together with the wider Claretian Family, journeyed to Yaoundé to participate in this historic encounter. United with thousands of faithful, we shared in the joy of welcoming the Holy Father and witnessing his message firsthand.
The culminating Eucharistic celebration gathered an immense crowd and deeply touched our hearts. In his homily, the Pope reminded us that Christ walks with us in times of trial, calling us to remain close to those who suffer and to persevere in faith, even amid difficulties.
We return from this experience renewed in our missionary commitment, strengthened in communion, and inspired to continue being witnesses of peace and fraternity in our daily lives.
