A New Order in Practice, A Living Call from 170 Years Ago
25 August 2025On August 25, 1855, Archbishop Saint Anthony Mary Claret signed the decree that gave birth to the Claretian Missionary Sisters, responding to the call received by Maria Antonia París: to create “a new order, not in doctrine but in practice.” A concrete way of contributing to the renewal of the Church so that it may be ever more faithful to the Gospel, poor and missionary.
One hundred seventy years later, we do not celebrate merely a historical date, but we affirm a call that remains alive. We continue walking in the footsteps of the Master, wherever He is present today: in the peripheries, in schools, in mission centres, and in communities—bringing the Gospel with our lives, in simplicity, dialogue, and fraternity.
This is our mission: to build an authentic fraternity, to welcome, accompany, and walk together, evangelising with a style marked by closeness, service, openness, and generosity.
To celebrate this August 25 means to renew our “yes,” as Maria Antonia and so many sisters did before us. Even today, we let ourselves be challenged: Where is the Lord calling us? What steps is He inviting us to take?
