Good Shepherd Sunday: the beauty of our Claretian vocation
26 April 2026On this Fourth Sunday of Easter, the Church contemplates Christ as the Good Shepherd, the one who knows his sheep, calls them by name and lays down his life for them. In him we discover not only the face of the Father’s love, but also the beauty of a life given fully.
For us, Claretian Missionary Sisters, this day is an invitation to return to the heart of our vocation: a gift received that asks to be welcomed and renewed every day. We have been called to live in total availability to the will of the Father, following Christ in the style of the Apostles, in a simple, laborious and poor life, at the service of the Gospel.
Jesus, the “beautiful Shepherd”, captivates and attracts. Whoever pauses to contemplate Him, in silence and prayer, discover that life becomes truly beautiful when it is lived with him and for him. For this reason, caring for our interiority is not something incidental, but essential: only through a living relationship with the Lord can our vocational response mature.
This relationship is built in everyday life: in listening to the Word, in the celebration of the sacraments, in fraternal life and in generous dedication to others. It is there that we learn to recognize his voice in the midst of so much noise, and where the trust that sustains our fidelity grows, even in the midst of trials.
Our vocation is not a static reality, but a journey of continuous maturation. In him, the Spirit shapes our hearts, configuring us to the poor, obedient and chaste Christ, and making us ever more capable of loving like him. In this way, our life becomes a sign of hope and a credible proclamation of the Good News.
On this day, let us joyfully renew our response to the Lord. Let us stop, listen to his voice, trust in his love. Only in this way will our vocation continue to grow, becoming fruitful and luminous for the Church and for the world.
