«Hope for the earth. Hope for humanity»

24 May 2023

With this motto and through numerous global events, the Church is uniting to respond once again “to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor”, as Pope Francis has been encouraging us for the past 8 years.

This year’s Laudato Si’ Week 2023 is celebrated from 21-28 May, Pentecost, to mark the eighth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical letter, “Laudato Si’: On Care for our Common Home”. The film “The Letter”, released in October 2022 and chronicling the journey to Rome of several leaders addressing the climate crisis to dialogue with Pope Francis on the encyclical Laudato Si’, will be the main resource for the week’s events.

This annual celebration has become a way to unite all Catholics and rejoice in the progress we have made in bringing Laudato Si’ to life and commit ourselves to continue to pray and act for our common home.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
