Season of Creation

31 August 2023

from September 1 to October 4

The ecumenical family worldwide

We come together to

Listen and care for our common home

The celebration begins on 1 September and ends on 4 October, an extended time to renew our commitment to care for creation, pray for it and become aware of our actions on ecological issues.

The theme for prayer and work this year is: “Let justice and peace flow”, and the symbol chosen, “A mighty river”.

The prophet Amos cries out: “But let justice flow like water, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream” (Amos 5:24). Likewise, we are called to join the river of justice and peace, to embrace climate and ecological justice, to speak to and on behalf of the communities most affected by climate injustice and biodiversity loss.

The urgency is growing and we must make peace with the Earth and on the Earth visible, as justice calls us to repentance and a change of attitude and action. When we join the river of justice and peace with others, hope is created.
