27 January 2021

The IPR Institute for Rural Pastoral Ministry of Riberalta, a neighbouring city to Guayamerín, has the mission to attend to 163 rural communities of the Apostolic Vicariate of Pando, to which the Claretian community of Guayamerín belongs.

During the rainy season from November to March, the communities that can be reached by river are visited. On this occasion the team is composed of the boatman Erlin, Sandra Sosa laywoman, Ciria Mees religious of Our Lady of Providence and director of the IPR and Josiane de Freitas Santos Claretian Missionary Sister. In the navigating parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be visited 24 communities along the rivers Beni and Madidi, celebrating the Word, performing sacraments and providing them with sacramentals such as songbooks, almanacs, crosses, rosaries.

They embarked on the journey on the 20th of January and after 3 days of sailing they arrived at the first community, Peña Amarilla, where the Word was celebrated with the Eucharist and God willing there will be two baptisms on the team’s return.

During these days, the text “María Antonia París, friend and companion in the journey” is being distributed.
