Mission in Madagascar

25 May 2022

We arrived to Antananarivo, Madagascar, on 21st May. Mgr. Gaetano di Pierro, the Bishop of Farafangana (our Mission Diocese) gave us a very warm welcome. He has meticulously planned and adjusting to the situation very patiently and lovingly like a Father. We stay at the new Episcopal House (Ambaratorka) at the capital, doing our process for long term visa. The community of the Sacred Heart sisters (French origin) took care of the table with much generosity. There were few other bishops who were passing bye, everyone was very happy and wished for our adventure at the mission. Mgr. Paolo Rocco Gualtieri, the Apostolic Nuncio received us and gave us his blessings for the new beginning. We entrusted our beginning of the mission at this soil to Blessed Victoire Rasoamanarivo, that she may guide our path in witnessing to Christ.

The people are simple, very welcoming and there is lot of expectation. In the capital city is very big, with unbalanced distribution of goods. Generally people speak Malagasy than French. Even in the capital there is lot of possibility for mission, and even more in the rural place. We are 4 members in our team. In these first three days, we found moments to pray together. We are willing and getting ready to face life and its challenges that’s awaiting us. We seems to have good understanding and there is a unified focus. Tomorrow very early morning we start our journey towards Farafangana which is 750 kms from the city. As we go we will contemplate the towns and villages.
